The driver of a quad bike who crossed double white lines to overtake a car on the A65 was reported to police by the driver of the car, Skipton magistrates heard.
Janos Gabor Chlebik, 30, an icecream salesman, was seen by the car driver coming up behind him at Skirbeck, Long Preston, at about 3.30pm on September 3. He overtook on the solid white lines before continuing on through Long Preston, the court heard.
The car driver took a note of the quad bike’s registration number and reported it to the police when he returned home.
Chlebik, a Hungarian man who had been in the country since 2007 and had gained his UK driving licence a year later, admitted failing to comply with the road markings.
The court heard in mitigation that there had been no complaint that he had been speeding at the time and he needed his licence to carry out his work driving the icecream van.
The court was also told that he was in receipt of disability living allowance after he had lost part of a leg following a road accident two years ago while holidaying in Hungary.
Chlebik, of Aldersley Avenue, Skipton, was fined £60 and had his licence endorsed with three penalty points. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victims’ surcharge of £20.
