Alzheimer’s Society dementia support workers are to hold information drop-in sessions in libraries across Craven.

The trained and experienced staff will be able to talk to visitors about all aspects of dementia, including support and information on dementia, how to live well with the condition, benefits, financial and legal matters, planning for the future and local support groups.

They will also signpost to services and activities run by other local organisations.

Locality manager Gill Myers said: “People with dementia and their carers are often isolated by their geography or lack of transport and may be unable to afford the time or money to seek out what is available to help them.

“The Alzheimer’s Society is getting out into the community so that people can more easily get support and find out what they are entitled to.”

The drop-in sessions will take place at Skipton Library, next Friday, January 24, from 10am to noon; Ingleton, Monday, February 3, 9.30am to noon; Bentham, also February 3, 2.30pm to 4.30pm; Cross Hills, Wednesday, February 5, 10am to 1pm; Buckden (mobile library) Wednesday, February 12, 10.30am to 12.30pm; Gargrave, also February 12, 2pm to 4.30pm; Embsay, Friday, February 14, 2pm to 4pm; Settle, Tuesday, February 18, 10am to noon; Grassington, also February 18, 2pm to 4pm; Cowling (mobile library) Thursday, February 20, 3.30pm to 5.30pm, and Kettlewell (mobile library), Wednesday, February 26, 2pm to 4pm.
