The Ribble Rivers Trust is planting a new woodland alongside the River Ribble at Knight Stainforth Hall Caravan Site near Settle.
And, on Saturday, members of the public were invited to go along to help plant the 5,000 native trees, which will make a big difference to the river environment.
Settle Scouts, Ingleton Scouts and Yorkshire Dales Junior Park Rangers have already pledged their support.
The new trees will help to reduce river pollution, mitigate against the effects of future climate change and provide good habitat for an array of wildlife, including salmon and trout, otters, birds and riverflies.
The project – funded by the Forestry Commission – is part of a larger scheme to improve the rivers in the entire upper section of the Ribble Catchment under Defra’s Catchment Restoration Fund.
