A Skipton toy shop has proved a honeypot for bear lovers.

The Present Planners – owned by Lisa Dyson – is about to stuff its 5,000th bear since opening in Craven Court in June 2010.

“It is quite a shock,” said Lisa. “I only know that we are nearing 5,000 because each bear gets a birth certificate and, when we opened, we had 5,000 certificates printed.

“I was so surprised I even double checked the order with the printer.”

The shop offers 25 different animals – everything from a traditional teddy bear to an exotic dragon.

Outfits range from tuxedos to pyjamas.

“It is certainly a popular attraction,” said Lisa.

To celebrate the landmark, the person who chooses the 5,000th bear will receive the bear, dressed in an outfit of their choice, free of charge.
