A school, fighting for survival after pupil numbers fell to 13, will celebrate its 160th anniversary with a special open day tomorrow.
Richard Thornton’s CE Primary School at Burton-in-Lonsdale will welcome visitors between 10am to 3pm.
They will be able to view an exhibition, titled Who was Richard Thornton?, which includes displays of the children’s work, old photographs and the school’s history.
There will also be a Dragons’ Den type competition for families.
Headteacher Chris Norris said: “We hope all members of the community and from further afield will take this opportunity to visit the school and re-live a bygone age.”
The exhibition can also be viewed from Monday to Friday of next week, between 10am and 3pm.
