A large attendance of gardeners gathered in the Octagon Theatre, Grassington, for the 36th annual meeting of the district’s horticultural society.
Chairman Philip Johnson described the year as successful and enjoyable.
The society had continued to grow, attracting more members and visitors.
He said: “Two great shows were extremely popular, particularly the summer show that had a record number of exhibits and extra tables had to be assembled to accommodate the 421 exhibits.”
Treasurer Jane Ringrose said membership had risen to 113, reflecting the increasing interest in gardening in the district. The annual coffee morning had raised £576.64.
Life membership was given to David Easterby for his dedicated service as a committee member and helper at the shows. He joins Hilary Hobson, the only other life member.
Officers elected were: chairman, Philip Johnson; secretary, Andrea Howard; treasurer, Jane Ringrose and auditor, Philip Sugden.
