Parish council: Cononley Parish Council will meet on Tuesday at 7pm in the institute. As well as discussing planning applications relating to the development off Meadowcroft and for 12 houses next to Meadow Close, the council will debate the village shop and Post Office. Residents will be aware that the shop has been up for sale for many months. The chairman and clerk have carried out fact-finding discussions with other community-owned shops and councillors have met representatives from the Plunkett Foundation about the possibility of a community purchase of the shop. On Tuesday, a report will be presented for councillors to debate and decide whether to take the next step – a community survey. The survey would have two aims – to find out whether the community wishes to retain the shop and in what format, and to look for potential members of the community who might be interested in being involved in such a venture.
