Pool friends: The Friends of Settle Swimming Pool is a registered charity, formed to raise funds to support the running of the facility. Members of the 200 Club pay £20 per year for a number which is entered into a monthly draw from February to November for prizes of £50, £30 and £20. In December, the Christmas draw is £500, £300 and £200 (provided all 200 numbers are sold). Victoria Hall: Next Friday, February 14, multi-award winning star Clare Teal will take to the stage in a show which celebrates her own musical heroes and heroines of jazz and big-band sound. Next Saturday, February 15, sees the return of Reform Theatre Company in My Romantic History. This is a free event with donations invited on exit. Tickets are available from 01729 825718.

Artisans Fair: The next Artisans Fair will take place in the Victoria Hall next Saturday, February 15, between 9am and 2pm. There will be a range of hand-made goods for sale. There will also be the opportunity to sample homemade refreshments in the vintage cafe.

Guided walk: The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Railway will lead a guided walk next Saturday, February 15, from Long Preston to Settle. This is designed as a family walk. It is seven miles long and suitable outdoor clothing and footwear is required. Meet at Long Preston station to join with passengers alighting from the 11.17 train. Snowdrop Sunday: Settle Parish Church will host Snowdrop Sunday next Sunday, February 16. You are invited to come along and view the carpet of snowdrops in the churchyard. Refreshments will be served in church from noon to 4pm, with proceeds going to the Aspire and Renew Appeal.

Merry Go Round: The Settle Rotary Merry-Go-Round dinner will take place on Friday, February 21. This is an opportunity to enjoy a three-course meal in good company with each course being served in a different restaurant. The venues taking part are The Lion, The Plough, The Hart’s Head, The Craven Arms, The New Inn, The Boars Head, The Gamecock, Ravenous, The Talbot and The Maypole. The groups will meet at 7pm in the dining room of Giggleswick School. Tickets cost £18.50 and can be booked via Rotary Club members or call 01729 822445. Funds raised will support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Settle Swimming Pool.

Barn dance: Churches Together in Settle and District will hold a barn dance on Saturday, March 1, at St John’s Hall. Tickets cost £7, including supper. A vegetarian option is available. Contact 822311.
