Craven people are being encouraged to share their World War One heritage with the wider community.

Skipton Library is taking part in a county-wide event where people can bring along objects, documents and family stories to their local library.

A travelling display of textile arts by the 1914-18 Commemorative Quilts and Textiles Group is also planned.

And, across Craven, libraries are offering ancestry sessions so people can discover their wartime families.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe said: ‘Libraries are centres of local history. By offering this wide-ranging programme of events they are enabling the general public to join in with discussion and reflection on what history teaches us.”
