A woman who bombarded a man with unwanted phone calls and sent him a Facebook picture of her bottom has been given a community sentence and a restraining order by Skipton magistrates.

Marta Guskiewicz, 29, targeted Craig Outhwaite relentlessly, despite only ever knowing him as a customer at the Golden Lion in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, the court heard on Friday.

Guskiewicz, who had already admitted stalking Mr Outhwaite between May and January, was last week handed a 12-month community order with supervision and given a restraining order banning her from contacting or approaching him in any way.

The court heard Guskiewicz changed her name to his on her Facebook page, claimed they had been married and when questioned by police said she had always wanted to have the name Outhwaite, even when in Poland, where it was an uncommon name.

She also turned up at the home he shared with his long- term girlfriend and left derogatory comments about both of them on the social networking site.

On Christmas Day last year she messaged him Happy Christmas, including a picture of her semi-clad, with her bottom towards the camera.

Guskiewicz, of Russell Street, Skipton, also sent Mr Outhwaite, an Army reservist who in early 2013 had served in Afghanistan, a copy of Nuts magazine to “make him happy”.

Prosecuting, Caroline Midgley said Guskeiwicz had continued to contact him even after a complaint was made to police in September last year.

Mr Outhwaite had made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her and on one occasion when she had turned up at his home he admitted being very rude to her.

He had been clear he had only known her as a member of staff at the Golden Lion where he had occasionally gone drinking and had a brief relationship with a friend.

Over the space of two days in August last year, Mr Outhwaite had received 21 missed calls from her, she added.

Guskiewicz also made reference to medals he had won while in the army and how she had wanted to share them with a school in Poland.

Mr Outhwaite took steps to block her messages, but continued to be told by friends what she was posting, said Mrs Midgley.

In mitigation, Jill Darrington said Guskeiwicz had suffered from depression after the death of her boyfriend in 2007 but she had pleaded guilty and realised what she had done was wrong.

As part of the 12-month community order, Guskeiwicz was ordered to carry out 40 hours’ unpaid work.

She must also pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.

The restraining order, which will continue until further notice, bans her from contacting Mr Outhwaite or from approaching him, in any way, including by a third party, or by electronic means, including social networking sites.

She is also not allowed to go within 500 metres of his home.
