Community Players: Austwick Community Players will be treading the boards with their much-awaited 2014 show, Oil Tek the High Road. The Players will stage the show for over-65s in Austwick and Lawkland Parishes at a free supper next Thursday, March 6, before performing it to the public on the following two nights to help pay for the over-65s evening, Doors open at 7.15pm at Austwick Parish Hall and tickets, costing £6, are available from Crossleigh Stores.
Field society: Austwick Field and Local History Society welcomed Aidan Foley, moorland restoration project officer with the Ribble Rivers Trust team. He gave an excellent talk about the work it is undertaking to restore and protect the Ribble Catchment and its tributaries. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 19, when Tanya St Pierre will speak about bumblebees in the Yorkshire Dales.
