A new fundraising group has been launched in Settle and Ribblesdale – and is already off to a great start, raising more than £800 in its first month.

The group will be raising funds for the Marie Curie Nurses, who provide hands-on care and support for terminally ill patients in their own homes every year.

Lucy Burnett, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Craven, said: “The Settle and Ribblesdale Group has had a fantastic start and we can’t wait to see its exciting future plans unfold throughout the year.

“The money raised will allow Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to terminally ill people and their families.”

The group will be supporting Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal, which takes place throughout March.

If you are able to spare an hour or two to hand out daffodil pins or are interested in joining the group, contact chairman Kath Metcalfe at kathmetcalfe1@ aol.com or fundraiser Lucy Burnett on 01274 337017 or lucy.burnett@mariecurie.org.uk
