Embroiderers’ Guild: At their meeting in February, members and guests were introduced to the secrets of professional finishing by knitwear designer Jane Ellison. The next meeting, at 1.30pm on Wednesday at Wharfedale Rugby Club, Threshfield, will feature talks on Colourful Screens and A Way with Hats by Katy Stewart and Barbara Cassell. There is no need to book. Admission for visitors is £5, including tea and biscuits.
Lent lunch: Church House will be the venue of the first Lenten lunch hosted by St Michael’s Church, Linton, on Wednesday. Proceeds will go to Christian Aid.
Coffee thanks: The Yorkshire Dales Grass Wood Supporters Group raised £477.10 at a coffee morning in Church House. The support shown on such a dismal day was gratefully received.
Friendship Club: Grassington Friendship Club will host a coffee morning in Church House on Saturday from 10am. Guest speaker at today’s meeting of the club – which meets in Church House at 2.15pm – will be the Rev Peter Thomas, minister of the Grassington Congregational Church. Next week, there will be a quiz with Joe O’Hehir.
Horticultural Society: Private Gardens of Cheshire is the title of Kevin Pratt’s talk to Grassington and District Horticultural Society next Thursday, March 6. It will take place in the Octagon Theatre at 7.30pm.
