Victoria Hall: The Panjumby Jazz band will take to the stage tomorrow to perform steel pan jazz with a dash of calypso. Saturday sees the Mighty Doonans perform their own blend of folk/rock. This is followed by the Sunday Folk Night, introduced by Mike Harding, when the guests will be Fake Thackray (aka John Watterson who performs the inimitable songs of Jake Thackray) and Reg Meuross, widely regarded as one of the finest singer- songwriters in the country and renowned for his clever and imaginative lyrics. Barn dance: Churches Together in Settle and District will hold a barn dance at St John’s Hall on Saturday. The event costs £7, including supper. A vegetarian option will be available. Please contact 822311. The caller and accordionist will be Bill Johnston.

Charity dances: Settle Charity Dances are changing venue to St Mary and St Michael Parish Hall in Kirkgate. The first dance in the new home will take place on Saturday at 8pm. Informal worship: The next informal worship session will be a cafe-style meeting at St John’s Church Hall on Sunday. This will start at 4pm and all are welcome.

Photographic Group: Settle Photographic Group will meet at Town Head Court on Monday at 7.30pm. The theme for the gallery is monochrome and the subject for discussion is Projects.

New exhibition: A new exhibition at the Gallery on The Green in Upper Settle will open on Monday featuring the work of Mike Smith. He is a printmaker, using mainly lino block printing.

Women’s Institute: Settle WI will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

Jumble sale: There will be a jumble sale at St John’s Hall next Saturday, March 8, from 11am to 4pm in aid of Epilepsy Research UK. Admission is 20p and there will be a tombola and refreshments.

Bugsy Malone: Settle Amateur Operatic Society Junior Section will stage Bugsy Malone at Victoria Hall on April 5 at 6pm. Tickets are available from the box office on 01729 825718.

Pancakes galore: The Mothers’ Union invite you to join them for pancakes on Shrove Tuesday between 10am and 2pm at Settle Parish Church. There will be pancakes with traditional and more exotic fillings and all will cost £3, including a drink. Proceeds will be donated to the Mothers’ Union Make a Mother’s Day project.
