Council chief Paul Shevlin swapped his suit for running gear on Sunday.
He fought against high temperatures to take part in the Manchester 10k in a bid to raise money for Save Skipton Skatepark Campaign.
Mr Shevlin, chief executive of Craven District Council, said: “Sunday’s high temperatures turned the race into quite a slog, but I managed to just get under the 50 minute mark.
"However, I can’t complain, everyone's support has been fantastic and the sponsorship donations have raised more than £750. We are another step closer to a new skate park in Aireville Park, which will be a great facility for young people in Craven.”
Meanwhile campaigners collected donations at Sunday’s Festival of Culture and Sport at Sandylands and this Saturday, they will host a fundraising café at Skipton Town Hall.
The Save Skipton Skatepark Campaign is aiming to raise £25,000 towards the £100,000 needed to build a state-of-the-art skating facility in Aireville Park.
