Steeton firm joins special club for helping hospice

A STEETON company has been awarded membership of an exclusive club in recognition of its support for Manorlands.

Acorn Stairlifts has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

And the firm, based at the Millennium Business Park, has donated several stairlifts for use by patients.

Now it has been granted free membership of the Manorlands Business Club.

“We are proud to show our support for Manorlands and encourage other local businesses to do the same," said Dave Belmont, Acorn Stairlifts' company secretary.

"The hospice provides an excellent service for families in the community, and by joining the business club we can continue our commitment by providing free stairlifts for patients and taking part in fundraising events.

“We are delighted at being awarded membership of the club. We take great pleasure in helping the hospice and its patients and we’re excited and honoured to be a part of the developments at Manorlands.”

Tribute is paid to the firm by the charity's regional fundraiser, Andrew Wood.

"The level of support and dedication shown by all the staff over the past few years has been exceptional," he said.

"With their regular free stairlifts – four of which have been given this year – we’re able to help patients feel comfortable and independent in their own homes, which is something both we and Acorn are incredibly committed to."

in March, 100 workers from the company together raised more than £12,500 for the hospice by taking part in the Keighley BigK 10k run and walk. Almost half the amount was coined-in by one team.

Acorn received awards for most participants and the largest amount raised by a team.

“All donations to Manorlands are well received but Acorn’s ongoing support has been remarkable," said Mr Wood.

"The money raised will help us develop our palliative care services, which allow us to care for patients both within the hospice and at home."

Manorlands launched its business club earlier this year as part of the hospice's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Members receive a special logo, which they can use on letterheads, their website and in other materials.

They are also given a certificate, which can be displayed with the logo on their premises, as well as regular updates from the hospice.
