CROSS Hills Post Office is proving a great success following its move to the village’s Spar mini-market.

Staff report a “huge influx” of people visiting the shop to use the new facilities since it opened on Friday.

The post office and its staff moved to the Main Street store from the old branch building in nearby Prospect Street.

Del Singh, who runs the Spar with wife Dalbir, said the new facilities had been integrated into the existing store layout.

He said: “We’ve had a positive response from customers and it’s brought in a huge influx of new faces. We’ve become a one-stop shop.”

The store has two dedicated Post Office counters which are open from Mondays to Saturdays, 9am to 5.30pm.

Mr Singh said that 95 per cent of Post Office services would also be available from the main Spar counter within a couple of weeks, once staff had been trained up.

He said: “That combi-counter will be open all the time the shop is open. It means a customer doesn’t have to rush before the Post Office closes to pay their bills.

The Spar opens daily from 6am to 11pm.
