WEST Craven residents who have been victims of anti-social behaviour can benefit from new powers given to Pendle Council.

The Community Trigger, a key part of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, is a way for people to ask Pendle Community Safety Partnership to review their responses to complaints of anti-social behaviour.

It gives victims whose problems are not being resolved another opportunity to get help.

Barnoldswick councillor David Whipp, chairman of Pendle Community Safety Partnership, welcomes the new power.

He said: “Pendle Council and Pendle Community Safety Partnership have an excellent track record in responding to anti-social behaviour and supporting victims.

“But this new approach provides a safety net to ensure those who may feel their voice is going unheard to get their case reviewed.”

Cases to be reviewed will need to involve one of the following:

• three or more complaints in the last six months from one individual about the same problem;

• five individuals complaining about the same or similar incidents in the last six months;

• one incident motivated by hate in the last six months from one individual.
