AN 18 year old who pooled together with friends to buy cannabis ended up in court after failing to attend the police station, heard Skipton magistrates.

Amy Reynoldson was spotted by a Police Community Support Officer behind Christchurch, Skipton, with a cannabis joint, the court heard on Friday.

Reynoldson, who was one of a small group, was required to attend the police station for it to be dealt with without the need of going to court.

But she failed to attend and was officially charged with the possession of a class B drug.

Reynoldson, of Park Avenue, Skipton, was of previous good character and admitted possession of the drug.

In mitigation, the court heard she had dropped the joint before smoking it and that she and two friends had clubbed together £2 each to buy a small amount of cannabis to see what it was like.

In mitigation, John Mewies said she was not addicted to the drug, but she was naive.

Reynoldson was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims surcharge.
