A WEDDING reception guest was over the drink drive limit, despite believing he had been very careful, Skipton magistrates heard.

Mark Robinson, 31, had been to an evening reception and was driving a couple of other guests home when he was stopped in the early hours of August 30 on Sackville Street, Skipton.

Robinson provided a borderline breath test reading and at first opted for a blood test. No doctors were available, so he provided a urine sample, which showed 112 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine. The legal limit is 107.

Robinson, who was of previous good character, had drunk sparingly at the evening reception, just outside Skipton, before moving onto soft drinks, the court heard in mitigation.

He had driven home to Gisburn Road, Barnoldswick, but been asked by two friends to drive them home to Skipton.

Mr Mewies said Robinson, a sales manager, would not lose his job, but his position had been severely compromised and he would have to relocate to Lancashire.

He was banned from driving for a year and was fined £525 with costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £52. His ban will be reduced by a quarter if he completes a drink drivers rehabilitation course.
