THE North Craven Strollers group has been officially recognised by Walking for Health and awarded national accreditation for its local walking scheme.

Walking for Health, run by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support, is a nationwide movement dedicated to improving the nation’s health through walking.

Its accreditation scheme is designed to give new walkers confidence that North Craven Strollers can support them in their bid to get active and stay active.

Dan Bavington, NCS chairman, said: “We’re delighted our short walks have been accredited by Walking for Health. Our volunteer walk leaders help all sorts of people to enjoy the many health benefits that regular walking brings, providing support every step of the way.

“Our walkers have a great fun, making new friends and getting to know their local area. Many of us know we should be more active, so we encourage everyone to join in and come along to our next walk.”

North Craven Strollers organises walks that are no longer than 90 minutes in length, with at least one walk of less than 30 minutes every month.

Local walks take place weekly on Wednesdays from the Millennium Gardens, Settle, at 1.30pm (with the first Wednesday of the month being a 30-minute saunter), on first Thursday of the month in Gargrave (meeting at the Summerseat) at 10am and on the third Thursday in Hellifield (meeting at Ahernes car park from 11am).
