BOSKINS, booses and barns is the title of next Thursday's talk to Upper Wharfedale Heritage Group.
Members will hear the results of a study of traditional farm buildings in the parish of Kettlewell and Starbotton, which concluded last year.
A new vocabulary was learnt in the process - as well as boskins and booses, members looked at shippons, mews, skelbuses, foddergangs and much more besides.
Project leaders Pat and Phil Carroll will a focus their talk on possible dating. It is often assumed that the barns we see today all date from the 18th and 19th centuries, but a surprising number have earlier origins.
The talk will take place in the Soroptimists Rooms, on Otley Street, Skipton, at 7.30pm and entrance is £1.50 for members and £3 for visitors, which includes light refreshments.
