SKIPTON MPJulian Smith has welcomed new figures showing 740 new apprenticeships were created in the constituency last year.

In total, 3,220 new apprenticeships, giving young people the skills they need to get on in life, have been started across Skipton and Ripon since 2010.

Mr Smith said: “These figures are positive news. Over three thousand apprenticeships since 2010 means more young people across Skipton and Ripon are getting the skills they’ll need for the future.

“I have met with some of those who are on apprenticeships, learning providers who deliver the education element of a placement and businesses who invest their time and effort in on-the-job training for these young people. Whenever I do, I am always impressed by the quality of the schemes and the commitment given by those on them.”
