THE legendary comedian Jimmy Cricket is coming to Skipton.
He will appear at the White Rose Club at an evening devoted to the current president and former presidents.
It has been arranged by club secretary Kath Whitaker and will take place next Saturday, November 8, at 8pm.
Born in Northern Ireland, Jimmy won LWT’s talent contest, Search For A Star, and was later given his own series on Central Television in the mid-1980.
He also had his own programme on BBC Radio 2, featured in The Krankies Klub, appeared in the 1984 Royal Variety Show and starred in the 2007 Comic Relief video of The Proclaimers’ song, I’m Gonna Be, along with Matt Lucas and Peter Kay.
Jimmy said: "It is great to be visiting the town of Skipton and to be able to support the White Rose Club on this grand occasion.
"I think any venue which is trying to promote and arrange live entertainment should be applauded because it happens less frequently these days. I know that club secretary Kath Whitaker is really trying to establish the White Rose club again, so I hope my visit will help in some way."
Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from the club bar.
