A NEW face is welcoming visitors to Skipton as part of the town council's Ambassador scheme.

Edward Hunt can be found on Fridays giving out information in the town centre in the company of town ambassador Judy Probst.

He worked for many years with Stepping Stones II, a horticultural project for adults with learning disabilities based in Skipton's Aireville Park, where he welcomed visitors and showed them around the site.

Craven Volunteer Centre staff were sure Edward's friendliness would make him ideal for the Ambassador scheme and approached the council on his behalf.

Dave Parker, chief officer of Skipton Town Council, said: “Edward has been with us for a couple of months now and is doing a great job alongside our other ambassadors.

"Overall, the scheme is going from strength to strength and the ambassadors are playing a very important role in the town centre. We’d love to add to the team and I’d encourage anyone interested to get in touch with the volunteer centre.”
