SKIPTON solicitors AWB Charlesworth has found the recipe for fundraising success.

It has once again embraced national baking week by holding another fun-filled firm bake off in aid of their sponsored charity of the year Martin House Hospice.

There was fierce competition as both partners and staff reached for their whisks and baked up more than 20 cake creations. Some of the showstoppers included a beautifully decorated sugar-worked maple and pecan cake, Malteser-inspired fudge cake, Simojoki Christmas cupcakes and some delicious traditional Victoria sponges.

Guest judge Brenda Peel, head of corporate and events for Martin House Hospice, scored each cake on its taste and appearance as well as critiquing the unfortunate soggy bottoms and praising some top notch piping work!

After much deliberation, Brenda announced secretary Sarah Richardson as the overall winner with her delicious traditional layered raspberry Victoria sponge cake made with homemade jam and finished with skilled piping work.

The cakes were then available for purchase in the firm's Skipton and Keighley offices, raising a total of £162.70 thanks to matched funding from partner Roger Armstrong.
