YOUNG ballerina Poppy Newton will be pirouetting in front of thousands of people next week.
Six-year-old Poppy, who attends the Skipton-based Northern Dance Centre, has won a small part in Northern Ballet Theatre's production of The Great Gatsby, which will be staged at Bradford's Alhambra Theatre.
Based on a book by F Scott Fitzgerald, the ballet embodies the fun, indulgent and exuberant lifestyles of 1920s America and Poppy - who lives in Eastby and is a pupil at Beamley's Boyle and Petyt School - will play the daughter of socialite Daisy Buchanan in certain performances.
She will appear in the Wednesday and Thursday evening shows and in the Saturday matinee.
Tickets are available by ringing 01274 432000.
