FIRE crews were scrambled to a house at Carleton on Saturday night after the owner called to report the roof being on fire.
Fire crews from Skipton, Grassington and Harrogate responded to a call from the occupier of a two storey house on Church Street at 9.20pm.
They were on scene by 9.28pm and used hosereels, ladders, breathing apparatus and an aerial ladder from Harrogate to extinguish the fire. They had to remove a number of roof tiles to get access to the fire.
After they had extinguished the blaze, the roof was made as weatherproof as possible, as heavy rain was forecast.
