SETTLE Library and Customer Services centre is on the move.

It will close the doors of its current High Street base on Tuesday and will reopen in new premises at Lower Greenfoot at 2pm on Monday, January 12.

The premises are situated in the new extra care housing scheme, Limestone View, which is being developed in partnership with Housing and Care 21.

The library will be more than twice the size of the old one, with a large, dedicated children’s area and space for events and activities. There are more computers for people to use, free wi-fi and more than £10,000 has been spent on new books.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member for library and community services, said: “Libraries should not stand alone. Working in partnership with Housing and Care 21 has enabled us to create a bigger and better library for Settle and more sustainable for the future. We hope the whole community will make the most of what’s on offer at Limestone View.”

Customers will be able to borrow extra books to see them through the closure period and some services will also be available online. For more information, telephone 0845 034 9402 or visit northyorks.gov.uk/settlelibrary.
