SOUTH Craven School pupil Callum Spencer has been enjoying the limelight.
He was one of 22 students chosen to perform in Matthew Bourne's Lord of the Flies ballet at the Alhambra, Bradford, earlier this month.
A total of 6,000 young people auditioned for the roles.
The journey to the final performance had started many months before when Mr Bourne’s company, New Adventures, came to South Craven to do a workshop with the boys' dance group.
Callum was one of three students from school invited to audition further and, after being selected, had to fit in rehearsals in Bradford with his school studies.
Although studying music and drama at GCSE, Callum had only had limited dance experience, but the eight-hour daily rehearsals soon brought him up to scratch
Callum says it was an amazing experience and he is now looking to take music and performance at A-level.
