FIREFIGHTERS tackled a chimney fire at a three-storey property at Burton-in-Lonsdale last Wednesday.
The alarm was raised just before 4.20pm and a crew from Bentham was mobilised and discovered the fire had spread into the roof area of the property.
An additional appliance was sent from Kirkby Lonsdale as well as an aerial ladder unit from Harrogate.
The fire caused slight damage to timbers in the roof area and smoke damage to the whole property, which is divided into flats.
Crews used hose reel jets, a thermal image camera and various small tools and the last appliance left the scene at about 6.30pm.
A fire service spokesman said the cause was believed to be an accumulation of soot.
