THE biggest fundraiser of the year for the hospice which serves Craven comes under starter's orders on Mother's Day, March 15.

Last year the Keighley BigK 10k raised more than £61,000 for Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope - which needs a total of £1.7 million annually to keep operating, so all such contributions are vital.

More than a third of the patients at the Sue Ryder hospice come from Craven, and the Manorlands community care network also spreads across the district.

Once more extolling the virtues of each of more than 1,000 finishers in the multi-terrain 10k race will be Skipton's Mr Sport, Roger Ingham, who has been involved with the event from its outset a decade ago.

The BigK 10k starts from Victoria Park, Keighley, at 9am on March 15. Entries can still be made online, at www.bigk10k.org.uk, or by phone on 01535 640176, or email andrew.wood@sueryder.org for an entry form.
