TWO Craven girls have beaten off tough competition to gain a place in the National Children's Brass Band.
Amy Counter, 11, of Bradley, and Charlotte Withey, also 11, from Earby, attended auditions in Manchester to win a place in the prestigious band.
Every July, the band runs a one-week residential music course, which both girls are looking forward to attending.
Amy, a pupil at Skipton Girls' High School, has been playing the trombone for four years.
Her mum, Melanie, said: "Amy is in six brass bands at the moment. She is very dedicated."
Charlotte, a pupil at Park High School, in Colne, has played the cornet for three years and is a member of Earby Brass Band.
"It started off as a hobby, but now she is very passionate about her music," said her mum, Deborah.
