A CONWOMAN struck at the home of a 70-year-old man in Ingleton on Wednesday.
She knocked on his front door at lunchtime and said her son had kicked his football into his garden.
She asked the victim to retrieve it, but while he did so she sneaked into his High Street home and stole his brown leather wallet containing cash and bank cards.
It is believed the thief may have met up with a man who was waiting outside and they could have got into a car.
A police spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the woman or who might have had a similar request, even if a crime was not committed.
"This woman has struck once and could potentially strike anywhere in the district."
She is described as white, aged about 35, and had dark brown hair, which was swept back.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police witness line on 01423 539334 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
