GRASSINGTON Players have revealed the results of an audience survey to determine what the public wanted to see at their local theatre.

Players' president Margaret Wilson said she was pleased with the response to the exercise.

She added: "It has certainly thrown up some interesting information.

"Our audience members had come not just from the locality but from as far away as Kent, so it is interesting that we are appealing to the visitors as well as our home supporters."

Less than half of the people surveyed knew anyone in last year's production of Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling.

"The production was very well received, judging by the survey responses, and the results showed that the audiences were seasoned theatre-goers attending many shows across the country," added Mrs Wilson. The Players are currently rehearsing "Anyone for Breakfast", which will be staged in April.

And they will be holding their annual meeting on Tuesday, March 20, in the Games Room, at Grassington Town Hall.

New and current members are invited to attend the meeting, which starts at 7.30pm, and to volunteer for the committee.

Wine and nibbles will be served afterwards.
