LOCAL politicians are taking the battle against dog poo to the streets of Steeton, Silsden and Eastburn.

Councillors Chris Atkinson and Adrian Naylor have funded litter bins for several streets in Steeton, Silsden and Eastburn.

The pair, who represent Craven ward on Bradford Council as well as being Silsden town councillors, have used cash from their annual ward application to buy the 11 bins.

As well as keeping litter off the streets and pavements the bins can also be used by dog walkers to dispose of bagged-up dog dirt.

Cllr Atkinson said locations for some of the bins had been identified by the ‘lengthman’, a street cleaner employed jointly by Silsden and Addingham councils.

He said: “It’s very important to make it more easy for people to dispose of dog waste. This should leave them with no reason why they can’t clean up after their own dogs.”
