TALKING Stock Productions will perform two new award-winning one-act plays by writer Alan Stockdill in a double bill at the Victoria Hall, Settle tomorrow.

The performances will raise money for Manorlands, the Sue Ryder home in Oxenhope.

Godfrey's Last Stand is about Godfrey Shackleton, a local league cricket umpire who wins the lottery and decides to spend his winnings on a boyhood dream - to get the England and Australia cricket teams to play a match on his village green.

This feelgood comedy is designed to make the audience think about family, forgiveness, responsibilities, hopes and dreams.

The second play, Give a Little Love, focuses on four old school friends, who meet up after 30 years at a Bay City Rollers tribute concert. Old tunes and old flames are revived in this tale of memories and music.

Both plays were successful on the festival circuit last summer with Give a Little Love winning best play at the Glossop Partington One Act Play Festival and Godfrey’s Last Stand being nominated for best production at the 2014 Buxton Festival Fringe. Both also won acting accolades.

Victoria Hall manager Ann Harding said: “This is Talking Stock’s third visit here and in the past they have raised money for the NSPCC and Age UK. They are very popular with our audiences. We are delighted to welcome them back to help raise funds for the Manorland Hospice.”

Each play lasts an hour with an interval in between. Tickets are free but there will be a collection on exit. For more informatoion, call the Victoria Hall on 01729 825718.
