RUNNERS who want to shake off the excesses of the Bank Holiday weekend can head to Ingleton next week for a brand new fell race.

The Ingleton Scenery Off Road Race features a five-mile route along the famous Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, with runners climbing 800ft during the race.

The event, next Thursday, May 28, has been organised by the Ingleton Scenery Company.

Director Peter Worthington said: “This will be a great way to showcase Ingleton and everything it has to offer to runners, their friends and families and we hope local businesses will benefit.”

Race organiser Brett Weeden said: “This is a great way to sample some fantastic scenery during what will be a fairly tough challenge and we hope it will become a regular event in the running calendar.”

The race will follow the Waterfalls Trail, which includes the spectacular Thornton Force.

The race, which is being supported by Ingleton Tradespeople’s Association, cost£3 to enter and will include category and spot prizes, including one for the first local runner home.
