FOSTER carers are being sought in Craven.

North Yorkshire County Council is particularly keen to hear from people willing to give a home to a vulnerable teenager or able to offer short-term accommodation to a disabled child.

A spokesman said: "All children who need to be fostered want to feel safe, secure and happy.

"And looking after a child who for whatever reason hasn't had the best start in life can give foster carers an amazing sense of achievement.

"Last year in North Yorkshire over 400 children were looked after by foster carers and we need to recruit another 60 fosterers to meet current and projected local demand.

"Good outcomes for children are more likely to be achieved if they can continue to live in the area, as local schools and health care are much easier to co-ordinate."

Information events are being held across the county on Tuesday for anyone interested in becoming a foster carer.
