YORKSHIRE Housing’s Craven Home Improvement Agency has been commended at the national Home Improvement Agency (HIA) and Handyperson Awards hosted at the House of Lords.
The annual awards recognise excellence across a range of housing support services and the Craven agency was honoured for its handyperson service, which helps older or vulnerable people live independently and safely at home.
Its remit includes fitting grab rails, carrying out odd jobs around the home and improving home security for older or vulnerable residents.
Yorkshire Housing senior home improvement agency manager Kate Haley said: “This award is down to the hard work of the team and their commitment to helping customers. We have a customer satisfaction score of 99.9 per cent.
“We find that making small changes such as fitting a grab rail, securing loose carpets or fitting window locks can make a big difference to our customers.”
The awards ceremony was hosted by Lord Best.
He said: “We received a record number of entries this year - testament to the sheer volume of top quality, creative services being delivered by the HIA sector. These awards are an opportunity to reward the vital contribution that home improvements make to the independence, health, wellbeing and dignity of vulnerable people and their carers.”
