FATHER and daughter Tim and Lucy Hardiman, from Skipton, travelled to London to take part in the Morrisons Great Newham London Run.

Taking place in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the 10K event finished with a lap of the running track inside the Olympic Stadium, giving Tim and Lucy a chance to cross the famous finish line which Olympic greats Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah raced across in 2012.

Tim, 54, has been running for many years, but this was Lucy’s first 10k race and they were pleased with their finishing time of one hour and eight minutes. "The feeling as you enter the Olympic Stadium is just amazing," said Tim. "It was so special to be able to share that with Lucy. It was a brilliant day.”

Tim, who has just retired from teaching at Ermysted’s, and Lucy, 23, were running to raise money for Cancer Research, a cause very close to their hearts, as they had lost their sister-in-law and auntie to cancer last month.

They have raised £1,500 through their just giving page and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated.
