PUPILS at Cracoe and Rylstone C of E Primary School have been working hard to help Syrian refugee children.
They took part in national initiative Project Paddington, in which they brought a bear to school and attached a cheery message with the aim of bringing a smile to the faces of children suffering displacement and hardship.
Pupils were also asked to raise money to send the bears on their travels and help families, and raised almost £290.
A school spokeswoman said: "The theme of our collective worship this term has been 'friendship', and Project Paddington was a very good link to this. The children did extremely well – it is a fantastic total."
Project Paddington was developed by a group of Sheffield mothers as a way for children to respond to the growing humanitarian crisis amongst refugees and displaced people, and fundraising efforts are continuing throughout the country.
