CUBS in Gisburn were quick to hone their entrepreneurial skills when they heard the village was raising money to buy a defibrillator.
They wasted no time in putting the Cub promise to help others into action.
Leaders John Moore and Sally-Ann Thomason gave each of them £5 and challenged them to use it to use to raise money for the fund.
And the Cubs leapt into action to make cakes, biscuits, personalised stones, games, plant gifts and other useful things to sell. They also held competitions and mowed lawns.
They raised a total of £550, which was recently presented to Gisburn Festival Hall secretary David Waters, who had set up the defibrillator fund.
David said "This is absolutely tremendous work for the community by Gisburn Cubs. A few weeks ago we set up the fund to buy a public access defibrillator for the village and the amount raised by the cubs has more than doubled what we already have.
"It was a privilege to thank the boys personally and to listen to them describing the activities they had undertaken to raise the money. It was also impressive to hear how much they knew about this life-saving piece of equipment."
