SUTTON Village Hall is holding an open morning to show off its recently-improved facilities to potential users.

The volunteer-run centre hopes to attract regular group bookings and people who want to hold parties, weddings, christenings or other private functions.

The open morning next Saturday, January 23, from 10am will feature displays by existing user groups, and free refreshments for anyone who turns up.

Members of the hall’s management committee will give guided tours to people considering holding events and activities.

The long-established hall in Main Street is already home to Sutton’s Green Hut Theatre Company, indoor bowling, tea dances and keep fit clubs.

Facilities include a dance hall, theatre, meeting room, kitchen and bar area, and hall volunteers are available to run the bar for public and private events.

Management committee spokesman Christine Young said: “There'll be free tea and coffee so people can come and have a nosey and see whether they've like to hold a party there.

"The more groups we get in the hall and the more people book at weekends, the more the rents can stay the same, and the better the hall gets.”
