THIRTY-FIVE students and four members of staff from Upper Wharfedale School, Threshfield, spent the first four days of their Easter holiday on a science and geography trip to Iceland.
The students got to swim in the 38 degree geothermal pool at the Blue Lagoon, walked between the Euarasian and American continental plates, visited the famous Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir Hot Springs and studied the Solheimajokull glacier.
They also spent time at a geothermal power plant and at a greenhouse cultivation centre studying the benefits of this form of renewable energy.
"The highlights of the trip were definitely swimming at the Blue Lagoon and seeing the Aurora Borealis," said a school spokesman.
