POLICE, investigating attempted cash scams at two Craven shops on Sunday, have questioned three young men.
Officers say that a 'money exchange fraud' was attempted at the Spar shop in Bentham without success and then the same scam was used at the Co-op store in Gargrave, again unsuccessfully.
The scam involves trying to confuse cashiers by asking for several banknotes to be changed.
Police have since charged a 17-year-old with theft and attempted fraud. The other two men arrested were released without charge.
They are all from the Birmingham area.
