THE owners of Steeton Hall Hotel celebrated the end of a major programme of refurbishment with a well attended event in the grounds of the hotel.

Steeton Male Voice Choir performed next to the hotel's newly completed bandstand, which will mainly serve as a backdrop for wedding photos, as well as a place for outside diners to enjoy.

The event also featured performances by local band Catch 22, a barbecue and a pirate ship bouncy castle for the children.

The bandstand itself was opened by Steeton youngsters Joseph Armitage and Evie White.

Joseph's mother Angela, who manages and owns the family-run business with her husband Paul and brother-in-law Andrew Armitage, said the launch had been a "fantastic" occasion.

"We were so busy, there were a few hundred people there," she added. "The children loved the bouncy castle, the weather was great and the choir was superb."

She said the refurbishment had begun when her family took over the hotel in summer 2014 and finished with the recent completion of the new wood and steel bandstand.

"A lot of money and effort has gone into this," she explained. "We hope it will prove very popular with people who have their weddings here. We've already got 50 weddings booked for this year."
