VOTE leave brought their battle bus to Skipton yesterday as UKIP MP Douglas Carswell stepped up the campaign to quit Europe.
Alighting from the bus in the town hall car park he was met by about 30 supporters brandishing placards urging people to "Let's Take Back Control", "Craven Says Leave the EU" and "Keep Calm and Vote Leave."
Slogans on the side of the bright red bus told the public "We send the EU £50 million a day" and declared "Let's Fund our NHS by voting leave."
Greetings and photographs finished Mr Carswell led his cohort of followers onto Skipton High Street with the aim of meeting the locals.
He proceeded to hand out vote leave leaflets - many accepted but a number rejected - and repeat his message about the advantages of leaving the EU.
There were five positive reasons for quitting the union  - holding on to the £350 million given each week to the EU, taking back control of UK laws, building a safer and fairer immigration system, developing global free trade and maintaining sovereignty.
People were told there were 35 million potholes in Britain yet their money was being spent on state-of-the-art bridges in places like Greece and EU immigration was putting pressure of the NHS.
Mr Carswell told the Craven Herald that the money held back from the EU could go into improving social services, boost the NHS and Britain could develop greater international cooperation.
"We don't need to be in a political union to trade and  improve the economy. We have other friends and allies we can cooperate with around the world.
"Tell me this, why is it that the establishment are so keen to stay in? It's because staying in is to their advantage."
