THE 36th Grassington Festival opened in sunshine and style at the weekend as 80s chart-toppers Hue and Cry played to a packed festival hall at Friday’s opening night party.
The festival’s now legendary procession on Saturday – created by visual art director, Carine Brosse, in partnership with schools and Gills Top Care Home, and led by the funky beats of the Loud Minority Samba Band and Dales Jam – brought a huge ‘flock’ of migrating birds to the streets of Grassington.
Crowds lined the streets to enjoy the rhythmic and wondrous spectacle, which concluded in Grassington Square, where a full day’s programme of free music and street theatre commenced.
Grassington Festival continues until July 2. Grassington Town Square will once again feature family-friendly programmes of free music, dance and street theatre on Saturday and July 2.
