YOUNG people in Silsden and South Craven interested in a career in the music business have been urged to join a summer school as part of the 'Sound of Bradford' project.

The initiative is being set up at the home of the city’s recording and rehearsal facility Factory Street Studios, with support and funding from Bradford Music Education Hub.

It will be launched under the umbrella of Piece Project CIC, a social enterprise that runs music and arts-related activities in the community.

Sound of Bradford is running the free summer school from August 15 to 19, which will include rehearsal and performance sessions plus hands-on tuition in stage sound and lighting, stage management, stagecraft and studio recording.

Other workshops will cover how to get started on the local music circuit, training and study options and the professional music business. Artists who are already on the road to success will share their experiences with students, as part of the summer school mentoring programme.
